Each quarter we would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our fantastic team of interviewers. This quarter our interviewer spotlight is on Amanda
Amanda has just recently passed her 3 year anniversary at National Farm Research Unit. This is what Amanda says about working at the National Farm Research Unit (NFRU):
"I enjoy working at NFRU because every day is different, I love talking to farmers and hearing about their experiences no matter what the subject is. Every study is different.”
“I think the most valuable information I have gained since working with NFRU is the absolute agony that farmers go through when dealing with TB. They are completely passionate about their animals even to the extent that emotion can creep in. One farmer once said to me that ‘they [cows] all have their own personalities’ and I have reared them from a calf.”
“The things I enjoy most about working in the agricultural industry is the diversity - every study is different and it is so great to get each person's insight or opinion. The farmers are so willing to talk to you and actually you become friends - more than once I have been remembered and that means a lot. I really appreciate everything they give us, not just the answers to questions we ask in general, but also their hard work and commitment to being a farmer.”
Outside of work Amanda enjoys walking with her labrador 'Goose', socialising with friends and travelling when possible. Amanda’s family are lovers of Croatia and have visited many times over the years. Most importantly Amanda says, “as an 'empty nester' my best times are when my three girls come home.”
