UK Sustainability Report

As part of our research initiative on sustainability in agriculture, we asked over 700 winter and spring crop growers about their cultivation practices in 2022.

517 (72%) of respondents were growing winter crops, of which 331 were growing winter wheat and 186 winter oilseed rape. Of the 200 spring crop growers, 102 were growing maize and 88 were potato growers.

Insights into the sustainability practices used.
When it comes to cover crops, spring crops (maize and potatoes) see the highest levels of cover cropping - 24% of farmers. Conversely, only 2% of farmers growing winter crops (wheat and oilseed rape) used cover crops.
